David is ten year VFX veteran currently working at Blizzard Entertainment as a Senior Cinematic Artist II, his work includes digital matte painting, lighting, rendering, and compositing to finalize shots. Some of David's credits include Overwatch, Starcraft 2: Legacy of the Void, World of Warcraft: Legion, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone.
In 2005, David earned his BFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, specializing in matte painting and compositing. Shortly after, David began at Disney Toon Studios as a Background Painter, and from there went onto to work at Luma Pictures on Underworld: Evolution as a Digital Paint Artist. David also worked for Rhythm & Hues Studios where he finished shots for Garfield 2, Superman Returns, and Night at the Museum.
While working at high quality film studios, David also worked as a freelance matte painter for various studios and independent films. He has also worked alongside other master matte painters like Alp Altiner, Chris Thunig, Levi Peterffy, and Fabio Zungrone. David also co-authored Ballistic Publishing’s d'artiste Matte Painting 3 with co-authors Damien Mace and Milan Schere and contributes as a Forum Leader on CGSociety's DMP forums regularly hosting Digital Matte Painting mini-challenges.
With some extra free time, David features local world class digital artists at his downtown Santa Ana artist loft gallery, Photonic Playground, where the theme is “digital, yet physical”; giving life to digital art in a physical gallery.
